In this talk, we describe a system that integrates multiview geometry and automated 3D registration techniques for texture mapping 2D images onto 3D range data. The 3D range scans and the 2D photographs are respectively used to generate a pair of 3D models of the scene. To use this tool, Right-click on the object then select Edit. Next choose Mapping -- Planar. Planar switches to texture coordinates which prevent distortion on flat surfaces. Planar (which means flat) mapping doesn't depend on the size of the face; it's like a projector making the screen bigger without changing the projection size. Planar texture mapping works well with flat surfaces. You may need to adjust the other options until you get what you want, most textures need to have numbers fine-tuned, in the Texture menu, for best results. Experiment with this tool and the options to see what works best for you.
