Steampunk Dalek - Colour Render

A short CG animation project a friend of mine (http://www.mechmaster.co.uk/ ) worked on, based on a design I created a few years back (http://promus-kaa.deviantart.com ) and directed by myself. But that's just the OFFICIAL story. In "reality," this footage was recently uncovered near a destroyed factory complex, and was originally filmed in 1882. Digitally-remastered and colourised, this shocking silent footage of what looks to be some kind of steam-powered killing machine may be too intense for some audiences. Let us hope that no one else suffered the same fate as the poor individual who ventured into that supposedly-abandoned industrial complex to shoot this footage. For centuries the use of tools by humans has been used as a marker - one of several gauges of that particular quality that define humans as unique and self-aware beings. Over the millennia, the development and use of certain tools has effected the quality of life so profoundly, that one can scarcely imagine life without their use. Language, social structures, medicine, electricity, mass communication. There exists in our culture the promise of technological solutions to every need, problem and issue associated with the human condition, from the basic needs of food and shelter, to more sophisticated requirements of the human animal - fast food, financial credit, internet dating, artificial hearts, and MTV. Attempts to meet these needs with technology comes in a variety of forms - from AT & T providing lengthy and complex exchanges of information without the customer ever speaking with a live operator, to computer controlled medical implants monitoring and performing an increasing number of metabolic and physiological functions in the human body. The conceptual cornerstones of "that which makes humans unique" continue to be challenged and defeated. Internally, in the case of medical advancements, and externally - as demonstrated by the increasing number of "human" interactions which no longer have two humans participating. I'm a fan of the steampunk style. I decided to take an old worn out and busted fan, along with some other parts, and see what kind of Steampunk style fan I could come up with. This is the result from start to finish. The center "neck" section is a brass insecticide sprayer that I cut down. The motor is a sewing machine motor. The knob you see on the side controls the speed. The gears and drive chain I bought from www.smallparts.com The music for this vid is a song called "Peggy" by Clandestine.

Steampunk iPhone Case

As shiny as the iPhone is, it would clash with my steampunk outfit. My solution: cover it up! (Bonus small item storage space!) Steampunk Daedalus and Icarus

Ok, so, disclaimer: I've been told this song is severely overused. I haven't actually seen the movie it's from and I don't really watch television, so I've never heard it anywhere before. But yes, sorry if you've heard it a million times. This is a project I did for my 2D Design class. The goal was to create a movie that, using only still frames, took the viewer from a static to a dynamic composition. I chose to do a steampunk version of the Daedalus and Icarus myth, replacing the wax wings of the myth with steampunk balloon flying machines. The Nautilus SteamPunk Guitar

THIS GUITAR GOES TO EBAY THIS SUNDAY, JUNE 3RD! The Nautilus was inspired by the film 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, but certainly doesn't aspire to look like a submarine. Starting life as a new Dean ML model, the Nautilus was fitted with a lexan border and feathered on the outer edge to give it the iron girder look. Our popular steampunk gear assembly with thick framework and a custom brass turned toggle switch decks out the upper wing. An apparatus of scrollwork built from lexan, wood and steel adorn the "V" area of the guitar which sports a Nautilus submarine inspired porthole window complete with the classic domed steel cross. Inside is an inlaid blue plasma lightning dish where electrical effects jolt around from the center, either continuously or sound activated. The entire section is strutted with oak for a solid build. Brass and copper piping/fittings and custom wood scrollwork complete the structure. The headstock is custom fitted with a lexan adornment which is reverse painted with the Dean logo giving it a deep-set effect. The knobs have been custom made with real seshells for the obligatory nod to the sea adventure that inspired it. Hardware is brushed and weathered chrome with hand rubbed accents of copper. Real Rust accents every line of the guitar for that ultimate steampunk feel. Hope you enjoy the second offering from our one-of-a-kind Steampunk Series.
