Led Matrix Part 2 scroller + equalizerI'm making some progress with my home built led matrix 8x7. it has 4 modes now. 1 Scroll text(independent speed and direction) 2 Scroll 2 lines of text (independent speed and direction) 3 Show equalizer output from audacious 4 Scroll text and show eqaulizer output The atmega16 does all the hard work, you can just use the serial interface to set the texts or bar graph once and it will take care of the rest. I use multiplexing via SPI and 2 74hc595. It includes 2 fonts 5x7 5x3 Yes that is 3 pixels high! Readability suffers but how else do you expect me to get 2 lines of text on there ;) Still some tweaking to do for the flickering and font readability. Display scroller with EEPROM supportThis a revisited version of the display scroller shown in the previous video. The hardware is the same (except that the display's common anode is connected to PB0 and the second one, currently disconnected via software, is connected to PB1 -- yes, there should be a couple of transistors there). The controller, for those who haven't seen the other video or are too lazy to look at the tags, is an ATtiny2313 (2 KB flash, 128 byte SRAM, 128 byte EEPROM). I rewrote the software so that the message is read from the EEPROM: it reads each byte and encodes it for the display, then waits and reads the next one. Whenever it reads 0xff (unprogrammed), it starts reading from the EEPROM address 0x00. I could have used another string terminator, such as 0x00, but I'm lazy and went for the default unprogrammed state. empty.eep contains 128 0xff bytes, and it's used so that I can erase the EEPROM only: sending an erase command erases both the flash and the EEPROM, although there is a fuse setting to have the EEPROM persist over an erase cycle; that's exactly the reverse of what I would need, though, hence the "erasing" file. However, this game has one crappy thing going against it, at least, to those who did'nt read the manual...and that is the button masher side-play levels, where one has to press left and right alternately on the control pad really fast WHILE pressing B quite often for nitro, and shifting with the A button.
