And this is where Bill loses me too. Until he can give me a satisfactory explanation as to why hundreds of millions worth in credit card fraud was committed on the day of 9/11. That would show prior knowledge and I do not think it was al-qaeda committing credit card fraud and putting in put options to help save the stock of the airlines they intended to hi-jack. Bill has this air of conceit about him that has put me off for a while now. With his superior atheist beliefs to his all knowing knowledge of what happened on 9/11 and that Muslim terror is the biggest threat to the American people. Bill tells Mos Def to read Sam Harris's interpretation of the Muslim religion. I suggest Bill to read the official 9/11 Report and the story by CNN on Dec 2002 about a little company called Convar.

PS3 Real-time Ray-tracing

IBM Interactive Ray-tracer (iRT) using three Sony Playstation3s (PS3) to render a model that is 75x more complex then those used in today's games. Ray-tracing is the rendering technique used by the film industry and is considered to complex for today's game systems. The code was written using IBM Cell SDK 2.0 on Linux. The iRT is totally scalable and only requires one Cell SPE to run. More PS3s = More SPEs = Higher client frame rates. All images are at least 720p 4x multi-sampled, with dynamic light sources, procedurally generated atmosphere, and dynamic shadows. Sorry about the bad camera microphone. Bill really decided to waste Ron's evening. With so much to talk about (ie: WAR!!!!, Habeas Corpus, etc) Bill decided to chat about things that even if Ron were to be elected he couldn't do with a swipe of a pen. What a waste of time. Too bad Bill didn't take the time to talk about Ron's vision for America. Bill also didn't congratulate Ron on winning the Tax Payers Friend Award (http://tinyurl.com/2ha6yw ). I guess Bill decided Ron's opinion on how the civil war could of been avoided and settled in a peaceful resoultion to free the slaves was more important. Damn Bill, I thought you were going to ask some tough questons. Brief Overview of Congressman Paul's Record * He has never voted to raise taxes. * He has never voted for an unbalanced budget. * He has never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership. * He has never voted to raise congressional pay. * He has never taken a government-paid junket. * He has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch. * He voted against the Patriot Act. * He voted against regulating the Internet. * He voted against the Iraq war. * He does not participate in the lucrative congressional pension program. * He returns a portion of his annual congressional office budget to the U.S. treasury every year. Congressman Paul introduces numerous pieces of substantive legislation each year, probably more than any single member of Congress. Let me get this straight. Issues and Experiences in Designing Real-time Collaborative Editing Systems

Google Tech Talks November 17, 2008 ABSTRACT Real-time collaborative editing systems allow physically dispersed users to work on shared text/hypertext/graphics/multimedia documents at the same time over the Internet. This class of systems have been known to pose multifaceted research and engineering challenges at the intersection of computer-supported cooperative work, distributed systems and algorithms, and software engineering. In this talk, I will reflect on our experiences on the core issues of algorithms design (Operational Transformation) for consistency maintenance and group undo in a multi-user editing environment, and system development for collaborative text editors, office productivity suites, to digital media design tools, spanning the past 15 years. Drawing on the observation that collaboration and conventional editing features are orthogonal and could (and should) be separately dealt with, I will present a new promising approach to building collaborative editing systems where advanced features for collaboration can be seamlessly integrated with a new or existing single-user application without modifying its source code. This new approach is powered by the GCE-TA technology: the Generic Collaboration Engine (GCE) encapsulates a comprehensive set of generic collaboration techniques and algorithms in a single reusable software package, while the Transparent Adaptation (TA) approach consists of a system architecture and a set of bridging techniques to integrate the GCE with single-user applications. This approach has the advantage of significantly reducing the complexity of collaborative system design and implementation, and at the same time, affords users with mature and familiar interface features directly inherited from single-user applications. I will talk about our on going efforts in using the GCE-TA technology to build desktop and web-based collaborative editing systems and illustrate the viability of this approach by demonstrating two systems - CoWord (a real-time collaborative word processor transparently adapted from MS Word, http://cooffice.ntu.edu.sg) and CoMaya (a real-time collaborative 3D digital media design tool transparently adapted from Autodesk Maya). Speaker: Chengzheng Sun Chengzheng Sun is a full Professor at the School of Computer Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Since 1994, Dr Sun has led and acted as the chief designer of a number of well-known collaborative editing projects, including REDUCE, CoOffice, CoOpenOffice, CoMaya etc., which have made important contributions to the theory and practical implementation of collaborative editing systems. Prof Sun obtained a PhD in computer engineering from National University of Defense Technology, China in 1987, and a PhD in computer science from the University of Amsterdam, Netherlands in 1992. From 1988 to 1993, he worked as a researcher and a senior software engineer in Philips Research Labs Eindhoven and the ACE software company in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, participated in a number of distributed system projects. From May 1993 and June 2005, he worked as a professor and Chair of Internet Computing (since 1999) at Griffith University, Australia. His current research lies at the intersections of Computer-Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW), distributed systems and computer communication networks, human-computer interaction, and software engineering. Dr Sun has published extensively and delivered seminars and tutorials on collaborative editing techniques widely at major international conferences, universities, and industrial research institutes/labs.

Google Tech Talks June 26, 2008 ABSTRACT Peripheral Information Awareness through Evolving Mood Maps Representing multivariable changes of complex data sets with beautiful developing landscapes The idea behind the Panorama solution is to express the overall 'mood' of evolving, complex data (such as the development of the stock market) in rendered 3D animations that can be perceived and interpreted with little cognitive effort. The software application maps variables of a data set (e.g. bonds, shares, overall trading intensity or fluctuation of the stock market) to graphic parameters in a 3D simulation, such as ocean waves, sun strength, wind speed, cloud particles etc. Developments of the stock market, for example, become perceivable by cloud transformations, wave precipitations, and changes in sunlight. The result is a beautiful, developing scene in which observers (e.g. traders) can monitor several streams of background information without effort in their peripheral vision. Whenever this background information signals particular relevance in a given context, it moves to the observer's foreground attention.
