Puerto Rico A Nation

Puerto Rico: A Nation, is a tribute to the Puerto Rican struggle for independence highlighting some of the events and people that mark the movement in Puerto Rico. I used music by Fiel a la Vega, a Puerto Rican rock band to set the mood for the images. This was done entirely using Windows Media Player with images found by using Google image search. I hope you will all enjoy this little video and I think its a good exercise for those who are not familiar with Puerto Rico or its history to try and figure out who and what is depicted in the images. Hurricane Hugo - Luquillo, Puerto Rico - September 18, 1989

This is my Hurricane Hugo chase video. The footage was taken during Hugo's landfall on the northeast tip of Puerto Rico at Luquillo. In my 25 years of hurricane chasing, this remains, overall, the best footage I have ever been fortunate enough to capture. Though I have been in stronger hurricanes, given that Hugo was a borderline Category Three/Four and the strongest portion of the eyewall passed directly over my location (during daylight hours), I had the rare opportunity to document the full force of an intense hurricane at a direct coastal location. Though significant damage begins about 8 minutes into the video, the peak winds occur between 10 through 21 minutes in, and are sustained near 130mph with gusts to 150-160mph. An anemometer on the island of Culebra (just offshore Eastern Puerto Rico) reported a peak gust of 170mph when the same portion of the eyewall passed over that location a couple of hours prior to reaching Luquillo.

Mexican Pipeline in Puerto Escondido

MEXICAN PIPELINE ROARS This is a beautifully shot video! Enjoy. Details: On Monday, June 19th, a day prior to the kick off of the Rip Curl Pro Search WCT "Somewhere in Mexico", a massive swell rocked Puerto Escondido. Beach side cafes were wiped out and water flooded the streets of Playa Zicatela. Two teams of tow-in surfers (Scott Chandler, Chuck Patterson, Carlos 'Coco' Nogales, Ken 'Skindog' Collins, Chad Jackson) went out at first light in what many are calling the biggest Mexican Pipeline in years. Veteran director Dave Ogle (Puerto Underground 4) was kind enough to share his 'secret' filming spots so that David Palmer could capture this epic day on film.
