Mozart - Requiem - LacrimosaAt the time of Mozart's death on 5 December 1791 he had only completed the opening movement (Requiem aeternam) in all of the orchestral and vocal parts. The following Kyrie (a double fugue), and most of the Sequence (from Dies Irae to Confutatis), is complete only in the vocal parts and the continuo (the figured organ bass), though occasionally some of the prominent orchestral parts have been briefly indicated, such as the violin part of the Confutatis and the musical bridges in the Recordare. The last movement of the Sequence, the Lacrimosa, breaks off after only eight bars and was unfinished. The following two movements of the Offertorium were again partially done -- the Domine Jesu Christe in the vocal parts and continuo (up until the fugue, which contains some indications of the violin part) and the Hostias in the vocal parts only. *----------*-------------*-----------*-----------* Lacrimosa dies illa Qua resurget ex favilla Judicandus homo reus. Requiem For A Day Off*UPDATE* When I first posted this, I was going to write why it is the length it is, but figured it did not matter. now, after so many people feel the need to let me know how they feel about the 4 mins+ trailer, I have decided to share the reasons why it is the way it is. Now don't get me wrong, I have no problem accepting criticism, I welcome it, but since I have a reason for this particular one, I figured I would post it. To quote Dr. Frankenfurter in RHPS when first showing off Rocky and met with Janet stating he was not her type of guy:"I didn't make him for you!". The trailer was not edited down to 2 or 3 minutes, because it was the perfect length for my target audience: me. Also, while making this I found a Lord of the Rings trailer that was 3 1/2 mins long. Why so long? Because its a grand epic. Therefore, one can assume that the movie that this trailer represents is 20% grander of an epic than Return of the King. ; ) So now to you I say: "Welcome to the Trailer for the epic film "Requiem For A Day Off". Now 20% Grander than Lord of the Rings!"* (*pre-cooked weight) music is "lux aeterna", full orchestral remix by clint mansell from the film "requiem for a dream". Requiem for a Dream TrailerRequiem for a Dream exposes four paralleled individuals and their menacing addiction to heroin, cocaine, and diet pills (speed). Taking place in Brooklyn amidst the waning Coney Island, the drugs are very easily obtained and keep each main character in its cycle of dependence. The protagonist Harry Goldfarb is your typical heroin junky with an ambitious plan of "Getting off hard knocks," with help from his cocaine crazed girlfriend Marion and his long time friend Tyrone. Meanwhile his widowed mother is obsessed with the glamor of television and eventually finds her way to a dietitian who pushes her into the cycle of drug induced enslavement. Mozart Requiem Mass in D Minor VI - Confutatis and LacrimosaJohn Eliot Gardiner conducts the English Baroque Soloists and the Monteverdi Choir. This performance was filmed at the Palau de la Musica Catalana, Barcelona in Dec. 1991. A Requiem Mass in the Roman Catholic tradition is a service designed to pray for the souls of the departed. The parts of the liturgy that are meant to be sung are what constitute all Requiem Mass compositions, including Mozart's. The structure is as follows: 1. Introit 2. Kyrie 3. Sequence: a. Dies irae b. Tuba mirum c. Rex tremendae d. Recordare e. Confutatis f. Lacrimosa 4. Offertory: a. Domine Jesu Christe b. Hostias 5. Sanctus 6. Benedictus 7. Agnus Dei 8. Lux Aeterna Mozart died before finishing the Requiem Mass, and his wife Constanze gave the task of finishing the work to a pupil of Mozart's named Süssmayr. From the Sanctus onward, the Requiem is the creation of Süssmayr, though he did use portions of the Introit and Kyrie for the Lux Aeterna. Despite, or maybe partially because of, the controversy surrounding this Requiem Mass, it is widely regarded as Mozart's greatest masterpiece.
