Super Robot Wars α Gaiden (Playstation)

This game was much harder to play than the first SRW Alpha, especially the last few stages. Special attacks had minial damage, and most of them cost a lot of EN. With a lot of enemies having HP higher than 30 to 40k, it's a toughie beating them, saving EN as much as possible and still have a chance to beat the final boss. This game also features Turn A Gundam and Gundam X series. These two Gundam series might be the least popular, but I found them fun to play with. Yes, Turn A Gundam is special, but I like it more and more, and with its special attack "Moonlight Butterfly" vs Turn X Gundam, it's actually pretty neat. The game also remade attacks of YF-19, YF-21, and added the rest of the Lord of Elemental robots.

Their three key points were "differentiation" (to make a game unlike any other), "artistic presentation" (a level of aesthetics such that any still screen of the game would be artistic), and a "non-realistic reality" featuring a vivid heroine who would make the player want to be heroic. They began to accomplish this using a method they referred to as "subtracting design:" every element of the game that took away from its reality was removed. Instead of having a varied cast of enemies with unique strengths and weaknesses, for instance, there would be only one enemy type; instead of a castle, its environs, and nearby settlements, there would only be the castle and an escape from it. They also used unconventional hiring techniques: to put together a team capable of realizing Ueda's vision, they hired mostly outside of the industry to put together an initial staff of two programmers, four artists, and one designer in addition to Ueda and Kaido. A movie Ueda put together during this period shows what they had so far on the PSone version. The lone enemy type is one of the masked, horned soldiers present in the final game only during a cutscene, though the horns are now on Ico rather than Yorda. Some locations are already familiar even at this stage; the outdoor sluice gate puzzle is clearly recognizable, as is the waterfall area. Full production on the game began in October 1998; the team had made the decision to go with hand-done key frame animation rather than motion capture. Ueda claims that actors weren't able to understand the situation and move appropriately, while the key frame method allows for smoother transition between motions. Some of the fruits of this time are visible in a second PSone clip, where the horned guards now have a kick maneuver and Ico's stick weapon is in place. A couple of elements not present in the game also appear briefly: Ico dodges blowgun traps in the wall at one point, and has a visible health meter while battling the guards. September 1999 marked a turning point for the project. Ueda wasn't satisfied with the results they were achieving, and became frustrated that the hardware wasn't capable of realizing his initial vision. He considered three options: either canceling the project outright, altering the design to try and finish the game on PSone, or changing platforms. After some deliberation, the team began converting the project for the PS2 hardware. It had a dramatic effect on the project: their graphical problems were over, with a new engine capable of 60 frames per second, particles, cloth movement, and a unique lighting system. http://www.1up.com/

gp2x - Sony Playstation / PSX emulation via psx4gp2x beta2

More work still has to be done on this emulator but it actually works relatively fast and many games especially RPGs are extremely playable. The side shooter G Darius is used for the demo as it has makes use of 3D and has lots of movement on the screen. "Of course we could port it to other consoles, but doing so would require additional staff and research and development costs. When asked about his impressions on the next generation of consoles, Kojima began by saying the PlayStation 3 is setting the technical bar very high. Citing the PS3 trailers shown during Sony's pre-E3 conference, Kojima said only a limited number of developers will be able to make games that actually play in real time with a similar quality of graphics. On the other hand, Kojima said the Xbox 360 is much more accessible from a development perspective, and he thinks many companies will support the console. He said he couldn't comment on Nintendo's Revolution, since most of its hardware specs are still a mystery, but he's looking forward to whatever surprises it may hold. "As a developer, I see the three consoles as different kinds of meals," said Kojima. "The PlayStation 3 is a sumptuous feast for special occasions; the Xbox 360 is a fine Sunday dinner; and the Revolution is a rich, home-cooked supper." Kojima continued telling Famitsu about what the future of gaming holds. "The age when people are intimidated by the transition from 2D to 3D or being able to play [games] online has ended," he said. "This is when our skills [as developers] will begin to get tested. Up until now, game making was like creating sets for movies. We prioritized on [rendering] the visible areas, and the rest was left blank. But no matter how realistic it may be, a set is still a set. So instead of a stage set, I want to make a real world. I'm planning on advancing from realism to naturalism."

THE SECOND CLASSIC GAME ROOM - Classic Game Room season 1. November 7th, 1999. Pat 2 of the original first Classic Game Room episode (Part 1 was Metal Gear VR Missions), in this early review the Game Room reviews DRIVER for the Playstation 1 PS1 video game console. Released in 1999, Driver should look somewhat familiar to video gamers today, it looks a lot like the modern GTA series with it's behind the car view and total vehicular carnage. This is the first installment in the Driver series with Driver: You Are the Wheelman. And you are, you play as the race car driver in a getaway car among many other things (or are you an undercover police officer doing good deeds for society?) Unlike the later Grand Theft Auto games like GTA4, you can't bring the city of San Francisco to it's knees by slaughtering thousands of innocent civilians, but you can explore the city in this early attempt at an open ended 3rd person driving game revolving around crime and criminal activities. The Driver series has had numerous games since the first one including Driver 2: The Wheelman is Back, Driv3r (the E is a 3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!), Driver Vegas, Driver Parallel Lines, Driver Working Title, Driver 76 on the PSP, Driver LA Undercover and the upcoming Driver feature film. In yet another video game to movie adaptation, how will Driver the movie, release date is not set, do?? Doesn't really matter, it was put on hold. Maybe it would be better than Street Fighter, but there's NO WAY it'll be better than the first Mortal Kombat movie which was f'n awesome! Classic Game Room was the FIRST classic video game review show on the Internet in 1999. Classic Game Room HD marked the return of the series in 2008. The original Classic Game Room reviewed Atari, NES, Nintendo, Sega Genesis, Dreamcast and Playstation... too bad they didn't get to Xbox 360, PS3, PS2 or Wii. Marvel vs Street Fighter The Simpson's arcade game Space Harrier Ms. Pac Man Un Squadron Raiden Final Fight Outrun SDLMAME is available from the terminal; yum install sdlmame for the latest version check out the authors page; http://rbelmont.mameworld.info/ once installed you will need to edit the ini file which is located; /etc/mame/mame.ini open with text editor change the following; change multithreading from 0 to 1 change video from opengl to soft change joystick from 0 to 1 also add autoframeskip 1 to the very bottom of the file.
